UNIJOS students protest school fees increment
Students of the University of Jos took to the streets on Tuesday to reject the recent hike in school fees and other services offered by the institution.

On July 29, the university announced an increase in school fees for both fresh and returning students.
According to the new school fee schedule signed by the registrar of the university, Rejoice Songden, fresh students will pay N213,000 while returning students will pay N160,000.
Although the management later reviewed it to N110,000 and N140,000, respectively, the students insisted on the rollback of the fee hikes.
The protesters who blocked the roads leading to the university campus carried placards with different inscriptions.
Some of the inscriptions on the placards include: ‘We don’t want to drop out of school’, ‘Our right to education must not be violated’, ‘Degree, not debt’. ‘Fees must fall’, ‘Our voices will not be silenced’, among others.
The protesters lamented that Nigerians are currently going through a lot, noting that any increment would be insensitive.
