UNILAG Professor Set to Challenge Carbon Narratives at Inaugural Lecture
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) is hosting its 19th Inaugural Lecture for the 2024/2025 academic session.
Renowned process systems engineer and academic, Professor Mohammed Usman, will deliver the lecture titled "Is Carbon Truly as Guilty as Charged? The Perspective of a Process Systems Engineer on Sustainability" on August 6, 2025.

Professor Mohammed Usman is a distinguished scholar known for his clarity of thought, integrity, and commitment to academia and public service. His expertise in chemical engineering and systems analysis has earned him recognition as a key figure in Nigerian academia. A former student, Joseph Musa, praised Usman's teaching style, saying, "Professor Usman is a catalyst of the mind. He incites thought by the very manner of his lecture delivery."
The lecture aims to challenge conventional environmental narratives and present science-based insights rooted in engineering principles. Usman's presentation will explore the role of carbon in sustainability, drawing from his extensive knowledge and experience.
