UNIMED VC Sets Ambitious Goals for University's Future
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, Professor Aderonke Adejuyigbe, has expressed her determination to elevate the institution to greater heights, aiming to become one of the top three universities in Nigeria.
Despite acknowledging the challenges facing the university, Adejuyigbe remains resolute in her commitment to setting standards and driving progress .
Adejuyigbe highlighted the "Japa syndrome" as a significant challenge, where many lecturers are leaving the country. To address this, she plans to leverage adjunct lecturers and strengthen the university's telemedicine program, allowing for more flexible and cost-effective education delivery. The university is also working on expanding its postgraduate programs, including PhD and master's degrees, which are in high demand.
The UNIMED VC mentioned that the university's permanent site is nearing completion, with significant progress expected in the coming months. Once relocated, the new site will help alleviate the challenges of managing multiple hostels scattered across the town, enhancing the overall student experience.
