UNILORIN Hosts Leadership Training for Student Union Leaders

The University of Ilorin Forum of Former Students Union Presidents (FUFSUP), in collaboration with the Student Affairs Unit, hosted a transformative leadership training for newly inaugurated leaders of the University’s Students Union. Held in Ilorin, the event was designed to impart essential leadership skills, including purposeful leadership, organizational and time management, conflict resolution, goal setting, and 21st-century student advocacy.

The training welcomed experienced past student union leaders—now prominent professionals including professors, doctors, CEOs, engineers, and senior advocates—who shared insights with the current student leaders. The presence of the current Dean of Student Affairs, a member of FUFSUP, highlighted the university administration’s strategic approach to student affairs by selecting experienced and capable leaders.

This initiative marked a first in the university's history of student affairs, underscoring a commitment to nurturing young leaders. By bringing together senators and executives of the Students Union in a family-like environment, the program promoted unity and collaboration, bridging a gap that typically sees the two groups competing for dominance.
