UNILORIN: IEDPU Congratulates Surv. Abiodun Jacob Aluko as New Pro-Chancellor
The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has officially congratulated Surv. Abiodun Jacob Aluko on his appointment as Pro-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, praising his extensive experience and potential to advance the institution.

The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has extended its congratulations to Surv. Abiodun Jacob Aluko, recently appointed as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN).
In a letter dated September 3, 2024, and signed by Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, the National President of IEDPU, the Union expressed its delight at Aluko’s appointment. Abdulmalik, a retired Assistant Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, commended Aluko’s extensive experience, including his previous roles as Deputy Governor and his membership on the Governing Councils of three other universities.
The letter highlights the Union’s belief that Aluko’s tenure will bring significant progress to UNILORIN. Abdulmalik emphasized the critical role of the University in the economic and human resource development of the Ilorin Emirate community, noting that the institution has been a prominent representative of the community for nearly 50 years.
The IEDPU assures that the Ilorin Emirate community is committed to supporting the new Pro-Chancellor and the Governing Council, aiming to maintain the University’s status as a leading institution in the nation.
