UNILORIN Undergraduate Shines at National Cyber Security Challenge, Bags ₦2m
A 200-level student of the Department of Mathematics, University of Ilorin, Abdulsamad Olaitan Yusuf, has clinched the runner-up position at a national cyber security competition, earning a ₦2 million cash prize and an award plaque.
The contest, jointly organised by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE), was held in Abuja last month.
The Head of the Department of Mathematics, Prof. A. S. Idowu, confirmed Yusuf’s achievement in a notification to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, a copy of which was later made available to the University’s Bulletin.
In a separate congratulatory message, the Registrar, Mr. Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, praised the student’s diligence and innovative drive, describing the recognition as a testament to UNILORIN’s vision of producing globally competitive graduates.
“You have not only brought pride to yourself but also honour to your department and the entire University,” Mr. Alfanla said, urging him to remain a worthy ambassador of the institution.
