UNIMAID Governing Council Chairman Leads Delegation to Condole Chancellor Over Brother's Demise
A high-powered delegation from the University of Maiduguri, UNIMAID, led by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Yunusa Adamu Dangwani, paid a condolence visit on Sunday, August 8, 2026, to the institution's Chancellor and the Emir of Lafia Bare-Bari, Hon. Justice (Dr) Sidi Bage Muhammad I, following the loss of his younger brother.
The deceased, late Alhaji Ahmed Bage, Esq., who held the revered traditional title of Dan-Kadan Lafia Bare-Bari, passed away on July 31, 2026, at the age of sixty-eight.
During the visit, the UNIMAID delegation expressed their sympathy to the Chancellor and the entire Lafia Emirate over the loss. Dr. Dangwani, speaking on behalf of the delegation, offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed soul, beseeching Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late Alhaji Ahmed Bage and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus as his final abode. The delegation also prayed for God to grant the Emir and the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss.

The Governing Council Chairman was accompanied by principal officers and senior management staff of the University. Prominent members of the delegation included the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Central Administration, Professor Babagana Bako; the Registrar, Ahmed Alhaji Lawan; and the Bursar, Malam Ibrahim Umar. Also part of the delegation were the Head of Department in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Barrister Babagana Talba, and the Senior Assistant Registrar I from the Vice-Chancellor's Office, Malam Lawan Kashim.
