UNIMAID VC Receives PTDF Delegation on Equipment Verification Visit

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, has received a delegation from the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) on an equipment inspection and verification visit to the University.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, has received a delegation from the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) on an equipment inspection and verification visit to the University.

The Vice-Chancellor was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Central Administration, Professor Babagana Bako, who received the delegation on Monday, 22nd December 2025, at the Muhammadu Buhari Senate Building.

Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bako conveyed Professor Mele’s appreciation to PTDF for its continued support and strong partnership with the University of Maiduguri. He commended the Fund for providing critical equipment aimed at strengthening teaching, learning, and research activities across various academic disciplines within the institution.

Professor Mele, through his representative, noted that the intervention aligns with the University’s commitment to academic excellence and research advancement, adding that the donated equipment would significantly enhance capacity building, institutional development, and overall academic output.

Earlier, the Chief Officer and Team Leader of the PTDF delegation, Mr. Tajudeen Olaniyi Ibiyeye, explained that the visit was undertaken to inspect and verify the equipment supplied to the University, ensuring that they were properly installed and functioning optimally.

Mr. Ibiyeye also stated that the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the University Management to congratulate the Vice-Chancellor on his dedication and commendable service to the institution, reaffirming PTDF’s commitment to supporting higher education and research development in Nigeria.
