A lecturer at the Department of English, University of Port Harcourt, Mazi Eze, expressed his frustration after being denied a N5 million loan due to his monthly salary of N191,000.

In a post on his Facebook page, Eze recounted his visit to First Bank, Choba, where he sought a loan to enhance his Public Speaking Academy Limited and acquire social media gadgets. However, his account officer informed him that his salary was insufficient for the requested loan amount.

Despite having over 10 years of experience and a PhD, Eze lamented the inadequate compensation, stating that his salary at UNIPORT is significantly lower compared to other federal universities in Nigeria.
