UNIPORT VC Pledges Support for Environmental Protection

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Chike Princewill, has reaffirmed the University's commitment to environmental sustainability and pledged support for initiatives aimed at protecting the environment.

He gave the assurance on Monday, August 10, 2026, when he received a delegation of the Pesticidal Plant Society of Nigeria, PePS, led by its National President, Dr. Simon Okweche, in his office ahead of the commencement of the Society's one-week national conference at the University.

Speaking during the visit, Professor Princewill expressed the University's readiness to partner with the Society in advancing environmental protection initiatives. He emphasised the importance of plants to the ecosystem, describing them as indispensable to environmental sustainability and stressing the need for their proper nurturing and conservation.
