In a recent address to the University of Abuja community, the Vice-Chancellor, Abdul-Rasheed, has reassured all staff and students that the internal miscommunication between management and a group of academic staff will not disrupt the academic calendar or the students’ education. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that classes have already commenced and that the academic staff are expected to fulfill their teaching responsibilities without delay.
Abdul-Rasheed urged the Heads of Department and Deans to promptly update the Integrated Portal with the Second Semester courses, warning that the university will intervene if any Head of Department fails to act. He also announced that the University Senate is set to approve new Academic Calendars to ensure consistency in the academic timetables, allowing staff to enjoy the entire summer off and providing students with the opportunity to retake failed courses during the summer classes.

The Vice-Chancellor proudly shared the university’s recent achievements, including securing national and international research grants worth millions of naira and forming partnerships with various agencies and organizations. He also highlighted the strong support from the University of Abuja alumni, particularly in North America, who have pledged donations for the ongoing construction of the university’s fencing.
In his message, Abdul-Rasheed called upon the university staff to treat students with respect and support their academic goals, ensuring that their education is not compromised. He also expressed his delight over the appointment of a distinguished set of Nigerians to the 10th Council of the University of Abuja.

The Vice-Chancellor concluded by encouraging students to engage in the numerous activities available on campus, including sports, social events, and academic programs.
