Mr. Ganiyu Oke Saliu, the Registrar of the University of Ibadan, has been awarded the Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership (CIML), USA, in recognition of his exceptional leadership qualities and significant contributions to the growth and development of both the university community and society at large.
The induction ceremony, which included the administration of the oath of allegiance, presentation of a certificate, plaque, and congratulatory messages from the Institute's Council, was officiated by Dr. Samuel Ojo, FCIML, Country Director; Dr. Steve Longe Esq, FCIML, a member of the National Governing Council; and Engr. Junaid Isiak Ademola, FCIML, Southwest Coordinator of the Institute.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Saliu praised the vision behind the establishment of the CIML, expressing his gratitude for the honor. He reflected on his educational journey, acknowledging the influence of great mentors and teachers throughout his formative years, particularly during his time at the University of Ibadan.
Addressing concerns about the declining standards in education, he lamented that academic freedom has been misconstrued as a license for complacency rather than a challenge to enhance existing knowledge. However, he expressed pride in being part of the University of Ibadan, where a culture of academic excellence continues to thrive in both admissions and employment practices.
Mr. Saliu assured attendees that he would uphold the trust placed in him, pledging to fulfill his responsibilities to both the Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership and the University of Ibadan with dedication and integrity.
