University of Ibadan to Support Presidential Livestock Reforms, Says Deputy Vice-Chancellor
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the University of Ibadan, Professor Peter O. Olapegba, has confirmed the university's commitment to actively participate in the Presidential Livestock Reforms Implementation Committee aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s livestock sector.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the University of Ibadan (UI), Professor Peter O. Olapegba, has confirmed the university's commitment to actively participate in the Presidential Livestock Reforms Implementation Committee aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s livestock sector.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, during a courtesy visit by the Executive Secretary of the committee, Professor Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, Professor Olapegba emphasized that UI, with its intellectual resources and infrastructure, is well-positioned to serve as a key hub in the national effort to reform the livestock sector.
He commended Professor Yahaya for his significant contributions, including his role in the establishment of the new Federal Ministry of Livestock Development. Professor Yahaya, an alumnus of UI, urged the institution to capitalize on the ministry’s opportunities, including converting fallow land into pasture and revitalizing the Teaching and Research Farm to boost livestock feed production.
Professor Yahaya also invited UI to participate in an upcoming national stakeholders’ conference in Abuja, emphasizing the university's ongoing relevance to national development through research and innovation.
