University of Maiduguri Launches Drug-Free World Club

The University of Maiduguri has taken a significant step towards promoting a drug-free campus with the inauguration of its Drug-Free World Club. The ceremony, held on February 22, 2025, was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele.

 

The event commenced with a walk from the Senate Complex to the NUGA Hall, where the inauguration took place. The club's membership consists of students from various departments and faculties who underwent rigorous interviews to join ¹.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by top university officials, including the Registrar, Bursar, University Librarian, Director of Works Department, Deans of Faculty, and the Legal Officer of the University.

The Drug-Free World Club is established under the purview of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Borno State Command. This initiative aims to promote a drug-free lifestyle among students and the university community at large.

 

By launching this club, the University of Maiduguri demonstrates its commitment to providing a safe and healthy environment for its students.
