UNIZIK Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi Engages Deputy Registrars in Strategic Meeting

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi, held a meeting with the university's Deputy Registrars, on thursday. The session was marked by Prof. Arinze-Umobi’s candid address, reflecting on her current role and outlining her vision for the institution.

Prof. Arinze-Umobi began the meeting by emphasizing the essential role of the Deputy Registrars in the smooth operation of the university’s administrative functions. Drawing an analogy to John the Baptist, she described her role as one of preparing the way for the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor. “My task is to smooth the way for the appointment of a substantive Vice-Chancellor and to ensure a fair and transparent selection process for the candidates,” she stated.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor acknowledged the valuable contributions of the Deputy Registrars and encouraged them to continue their exemplary work. She assured them that their efforts, though sometimes unrecognized in the immediate, would ultimately be acknowledged, stating, “Every good deed will be recognized, even if not by me, but by God.”

Prof. Arinze-Umobi also reflected on her previous tenure as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, where she actively worked to address cadre stagnation among Deputy Registrars. She reaffirmed her commitment to fostering a peaceful academic environment, maintaining a clean and green campus, and ensuring the uninterrupted progress of academic programs.

Additionally, the Acting Vice-Chancellor outlined her strategic goals, including the reduction of the university’s debt burden within the constraints of available resources. She also urged lecturers to contribute to the university’s advancement by uploading their creative outputs, which she believes will positively impact the institution’s global ranking.
