Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) recently held a valedictory session for its outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Okechukwu Esimone, at the UNIZIK Business School. This event marked the end of Professor Esimone’s impactful tenure, which began on June 4, 2019. During his time as the 6th substantive Vice-Chancellor, he made significant contributions to the university's growth and development.
Professor Esimone's leadership saw Nnamdi Azikiwe University achieve numerous milestones in academic excellence, research, and community engagement. Under his administration, the university improved its global ranking from 4,937th in 2019 to below 1,500th by the end of his tenure. His efforts also resulted in a substantial increase in inaugural lectures, academic conferences, and grant applications across various departments.
The valedictory session included a university-wide tour where Professor Esimone visited various departments, research centers, and administrative offices. This tour allowed him to interact with students, faculty, and staff, reflecting on the university's achievements and discussing future goals. Faculties across the university organized board sessions to express their gratitude and commemorate his contributions.
