UNN VCs Neglect Infrastructures- Netizens React, Decrying the State of the Stadium
Netizens and alumni of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), have expressed dismay over the deteriorating condition of the Akanu Ibiam Stadium, located within the university campus. Alumni and students alike voiced their frustration, pointing out that the stadium had been earmarked for refurbishment in the past, but successive Vice Chancellors allegedly neglected the project.

The outcry follows a post by @Enugu Journalist who highlighted the stadium's deplorable state, describing it as unacceptable for a federal university. He wrote, “Look at the condition of a Federal University Stadium. The First Indigenous University in Nigeria at that”

Alumni and students alike voiced their frustration, pointing out that the stadium had been earmarked for refurbishment in the past. It was revealed that the stadium was scheduled for refurbishment in the past, but successive Vice Chancellors allegedly neglected the project.
One alumna, who was a student during the initial project award, blamed the mismanagement of funds on Okoro Bartholomew, the then Vice Chancellor of the Institution. ,” I was in 300L during the period this project was awarded. Okoro Bartholomew was in charge of the project and he mismanaged the project. To our greatest surprise, the punishment he got for mismanaging the project was the office of the Vice Councilor of University of Nigeria Nsukka”, he explained.

"Someone was in charge of this project during NUGA games in 2008, this project forced UNN to close down school to enable them carry out the construction, yet look at the state. We are our own greatest undoings.”, another expessed.
