US Foundation Awards Prestigious Scholarships to 10 Top MAAUN Students

The Crain/Jefferson Enrichment Foundation, a US-based organization, has awarded scholarships to 10 outstanding students of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN). Four of the selected students received their award letters on Wednesday, presented by the foundation's sponsor, Valentino Maurice Jefferson, during his visit to Kano. The remaining six will receive their letters at a later date.

The students, selected after a rigorous screening process, are enrolled in programs such as Physiotherapy, Nursing Science, and Medical Laboratory Science.

The C/JEF American Sponsors Scholarship was established last year to support disadvantaged African students aiming to study at MAAUN. The foundation shares the vision of MAAUN’s founder, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, in empowering youths through education.

Prof. Gwarzo expressed gratitude to Mr. Jefferson for his commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and encouraged other philanthropists to follow his example. He also urged the scholarship recipients to seize this opportunity, highlighting that they were selected from over 3,000 applicants.

Mr. Jefferson explained that the scholarship is part of his efforts to continue his late mother’s passion for education. He praised MAAUN and expressed confidence in the chosen students, urging them not to disappoint him.
