Vice-Chancellor Commends DAC for Donating 600 Seedlings to ABU

Ahmadu Bello University's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, has praised the Division of Agricultural Colleges (DAC) for its donation of 600 seedlings, comprising 400 cashew and 200 neem plants, to the University Standing Committee on Tree Planting. The donation was used to celebrate World Environmental Day.

In a letter dated August 21, 2024, Auwalu Y. Mohammed, Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, expressed the university’s appreciation for DAC's contribution. The seedlings are expected to enhance the university's environmental sustainability efforts and become integral to its ecosystem.

The donation coincided with the university's World Environmental Day Symposium and Tree Planting Campaign held on August 14, 2024. The event featured a presentation by Prof. E.O. Iguisi on land restoration and drought resilience, a drama titled “The Last Tree Standing,” and talks by religious leaders on the significance of trees.
