"Please be formally informed that the conduct of WASSCE SC 2024 goes on as scheduled," WAEC stated in the memo.

Despite acknowledging the concerns raised by the unions and the general public, WAEC emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency in conducting the exams across West African countries. It asserted that the Nigerian child should not be disadvantaged by missing the examination.

The strike, declared by the NLC and the Trade Union of Nigeria, is an indefinite action protesting the federal government's failure to meet demands for an increase in the minimum wage. The NLC is advocating for a minimum wage of N494,000, citing the rising cost of living, while the government has offered N60,000.

The decision by WAEC to proceed with the exams underscores the significance of maintaining the integrity and continuity of educational assessments, despite prevailing labor disputes.
