Yoruba Youth Assembly Worldwide Pays Courtesy Call on UCH Management
The Yoruba Youth Assembly, the umbrella body of all Yoruba youth groups worldwide, has paid a courtesy call on the Management of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. The visit was held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the hospital’s boardroom.

The spokesman of the Assembly, Ogbeni Olaleru Folorunsho, commended the Management of UCH for the impactful healthcare services rendered to the hospital community and society at large. He noted that the Yoruba Youth Assembly, under the patronage of Aare Afe Babalola, has over 36 branches across the country. According to him, the purpose of the visit was to appreciate the Chief Medical Director of UCH, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, for his outstanding leadership.

Folorunsho emphasized that under the stewardship of Prof. Otegbayo, UCH has witnessed reforms that strengthened service delivery, enhanced medical training, and improved research capacity, thereby making the hospital a hub of excellence in Africa. In recognition of these achievements, the award of “Yoruba Youth Humanitarian Icon for the Year 2025” was presented to the CMD.

The President of the Yoruba Youth Assembly, Aare Olarinde Thomas, also praised Prof. Otegbayo for his leadership achievements in championing medical education and research, as well as mentoring hundreds of young adults in academics.

In his response, Prof. Otegbayo thanked the Yoruba Youth Assembly for the honor, describing the award as a clarion call to do more in healthcare delivery. He further expressed his administration’s readiness to support the Yoruba Youth Assembly in promoting more productive services.
