Young Lady Breaks Record at US University, Emerges First-Ever Black Person to Earn PhD in Biomedical Engineering

Carcia Carson has made history at Vanderbilt University in the United States by becoming the first-ever black person to earn a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the institution. Hailing from Mississippi, Carson expressed her joy and highlighted the importance of diversifying the industry.

Carson earned her Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Jackson State University before joining the Fisk-Vanderbilt Master’s-to-Ph.D. Bridge Program. She obtained her master’s degree in Physics at Fisk University, where her focus on medical physics was strengthened.
