18-Year-Old Javien Delasbour Achieves Perfect 4.00 GPA, Becomes First Black Valedictorian at Erath High School

In a historic achievement, 18-year-old Javien Delasbour has become the first black valedictorian at Erath High School in the United States, graduating with a flawless 4.00 cumulative grade point average.
Javien distinguished himself as the top student among the school’s 14 valedictorians for the graduating class, achieving straight A’s throughout his academic career with no B’s on record. His achievement not only highlights academic excellence but also his active participation in extracurricular activities, including saxophone in the school band, cross-country running, and membership in the Beta Club.

Reflecting on his journey, Javien expressed surprise at becoming valedictorian, emphasizing that his success solidified only in the final weeks of his senior year. Despite challenges, he credits his perseverance to lessons learned from band and cross-country, maintaining focus on larger goals beyond daily academic tasks.
"I knew it was going toward a bigger goal at the end of the day. I knew I was working toward something bigger than just a quiz on a Monday," Javien remarked.
He attributed his success to the support and dedication of his parents, who instilled in him a strong work ethic and the importance of education. Following his mother's footsteps, Javien plans to pursue Civil Engineering at Louisiana State University, driven by a passion for infrastructure design and problem-solving in construction.
The achievement underscores Javien's determination and the historic significance of his academic accomplishment at Erath High School, inspiring peers and future generations.
