Wellspring University, Benin, held its first-ever induction ceremony where 21 graduates were inducted into the computing profession by the Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN).

21 graduates of Wellspring University, Benin, were inducted into the computing profession by the Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) on Thursday. The event marked the first-ever induction at the institution, signifying a major milestone as the graduates transitioned from students to certified computing professionals.

The inductees comprised graduates with Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Information Technology, as well as two Master’s degree holders and one member of staff from the university’s Computing Department.

Delivering his remarks before the oath-taking ceremony, CPN Registrar Muhammed Aliyu, represented by Mrs. Elizabeth Adekunle, the Graduates Induction Coordinator, emphasized the importance of ethical conduct, continuous learning, and dedication in the computing profession. He lauded Wellspring University for producing solution-oriented graduates in a world experiencing rapid technological advancements.

"The university is fulfilling its role as a future-forward institution by addressing the diverse needs of Africa through the development of solution providers across various fields," Aliyu stated.

The Vice Chancellor of Wellspring University, Prof. Isaac Rotimi Ajayi, described the induction as both historic and educational. He urged the inductees to leverage the professional edge conferred upon them by the induction, highlighting the university’s commitment to integrating modern technology breakthroughs into its curriculum to professionalize students' skills.

Prof. Dipo Akomolafe, Dean of the College of Science and Computing, noted that the induction aligns with the university's vision to professionalize all courses within the Department of Computing. "This step ensures that our graduates will stand out among their peers globally," he said.

Dr. Tosin Olayinka, Head of the Computing Department, provided an overview of the maiden induction, revealing that it included 18 undergraduates, two postgraduates, and one staff member.

The induction lecture, delivered by Prof. Veronica Osubor from the University of Benin, offered the new professionals insights on building a successful career in computing. She encouraged them to embrace teamwork, problem-solving, analytical thinking, and networking as key components for career growth.
