In a groundbreaking achievement, 22-year-old Mya Guillaume has made history by earning a bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, United States. Mya's remarkable accomplishment is further highlighted by her distinction as the only Black graduate within her aerospace engineering graduating class.

Taking to Instagram to share her joy, Mya expressed the challenges and triumphs of her four-year journey. She emphasized her status as the sole Black individual graduating in aerospace engineering among the 13 who initially enrolled in the program.

"Dear Old State, I Just Need Some Space. After the hardest yet most rewarding 4 years of my life, I am officially a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Aerospace Engineering," she proudly announced.

Mya's exceptional journey extends beyond academic success. As a recipient of the prestigious Brooke Owens Fellowship, she has been recognized for her commitment to community service and dedication to pursuing a career in aerospace. Additionally, Mya has been acknowledged in the inaugural class of Patti Grace Smith fellows, a fellowship empowering and supporting young Black excellence in the aerospace field.

During her time at Pennsylvania State University, Mya had the unique opportunity to meet Guion S. Bluford, the first Black American astronaut, who also earned an aerospace engineering degree from the same institution. Bluford shared invaluable insights from his experiences across various sectors of the aerospace industry.
