AAU Governing Council Sets Up Committees to Address Infrastructure, Alumni Relations, and Salary Disparities

The Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, concluded its 233rd regular meeting on 17th October, 2024, focusing on critical issues such as infrastructural improvements, alumni engagement, and salary standardization within the institution.

Chaired by Pro-Chancellor Dr. Omo-Ehijele Frank Odafen, the council raised concerns about the deteriorating state of facilities and the underutilization of donated assets. To address these, the council established a four-member Needs Assessment Committee led by Prof. R.E. Ohenhen. This committee will evaluate the university’s infrastructure and guide the management on prioritizing necessary projects before accepting further donations.

In a bid to strengthen alumni relations, the council approved the formation of a seven-member Alumni Relations Committee, also chaired by Dr. Odafen. This committee will work on rebuilding connections with alumni, acknowledging their contributions through personalized communication, and restoring confidence among alumni donors to encourage their continued support.

Additionally, the council addressed concerns over the documentation and custody of university properties, particularly those managed by former Special Intervention Team secretary Dr. Idemudia Oahimire. A four-member committee, led by Clifford Imade Omozeghian Esq, was tasked with investigating the status of properties in Abuja and Benin City, focusing on retrieving vital documents, including certificates of occupancy.

A significant issue raised during the meeting was the salary discrepancies among AAU-ICT staff. To resolve this, a five-member committee chaired by Prof. Omi Ujuanbi was set up to review and standardize the salary structure within the institution.
