ABU Hosts Workshop on Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer

The Directorate of Research and Innovation at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, recently organized a workshop on intellectual property and technology transfer. The event, held at the Assembly Hall, aimed to equip researchers and students with the knowledge to safeguard and commercialize their innovations.

Prof. Joy J. Maina, Director of the Directorate, emphasized the importance of cross-disciplinary research and the need to enhance the visibility of arts and humanities research.

Presentations included Prof. Valentine Ntui’s talk on genome editing and Prof. Sani Ibrahim’s discussion on academic entrepreneurship. Prof. Emmanuel O. Balogun, Coordinator of the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office, highlighted the value of intellectual property in innovation and development.

The workshop featured roundtable discussions and was attended by faculty, researchers, and postgraduate students.
