In a swift operation, the Enugu State Police Command has successfully rescued a security guard who was abducted alongside a staff nurse from the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Ituku Ozalla. The security man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday along with the nurse, sparking fears for their safety.

The incident, believed to be orchestrated by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, occurred when the assailants invaded the federal hospital premises. Reports indicate that the abducted nurse's SUV was later found abandoned on a road, pierced with bullet holes, heightening concerns over the safety of the victims.

While the security man has been rescued following intense police operations, the whereabouts of the nurse remain unknown. The Enugu State Police Command, under the directive of Commissioner Kanayo Uzuegbu, has intensified efforts to locate and rescue the missing nurse.

In a statement issued by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, it was confirmed that the rescued security man was found in Ishi-Ozalla, within the same local government area where the abduction took place. The statement further emphasized the commitment of the police to ensure the safe return of the nurse and the apprehension of the perpetrators.
