Abdulkadir Kure University Minna (AKUM) in Niger State, has successfully matriculated over 1,500 students for the 2023/2024 academic session during its inaugural regular matriculation ceremony. The event took place at the university’s campus, where the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aliyu Mohammed Paiko, addressed the new students.

In his speech, Professor Paiko urged the students to uphold the institution's reputation by avoiding any actions that could tarnish its image. He emphasized the university's zero tolerance for examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, and sexual misconduct. “I urge you to always demonstrate good conduct in your appearance, communication, and behavior,” he stated, underscoring the core values of excellence, productivity, decency, and modesty promoted by the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed his gratitude to Governor Umaru Muhammed Bago, members of the state assembly, the Ministry of Tertiary Education, and various stakeholders for their continued support in realizing the university's vision and mission. He reiterated that the primary focus of the institution is to provide a conducive environment for teaching and learning, firmly stating, “You are here to learn and be taught, and the institution will not tolerate anything outside that.”

In a brief address, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Honourable Abdullahi Adamu Mammagi, announced initiatives aimed at enhancing students' welfare, including the expedited payment of scholarships for state indigenes. He commended AKU for its innovative approach to infrastructural development and for successfully partnering with philanthropic individuals and agencies to provide modern facilities.

Highlighting the broader economic challenges faced by the nation, both officials called on the students to adhere to legal standards and respect authority while encouraging the government to support the university’s initiatives. They emphasized the importance of faith and unity in overcoming the nation’s challenges.

The ceremony featured a scholarship presentation to outstanding students from all departments and a drama presentation by the university's drama troupe, showcasing the vibrant campus life at AKUM.
