Dr. Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State, has authorized the allocation of bursary awards to Abia State indigenes pursuing legal studies nationwide. This decision, aimed at bolstering educational opportunities, was announced by the state's Commissioner for Information and Culture, Okey Kanu, during a press briefing held after the Executive Council meeting chaired by the governor in Umuahia.

Kanu emphasized that the approval of these bursaries reflects the state government's steadfast commitment to prioritizing education. In tandem with this initiative, the government has initiated the refurbishment of 170 primary schools, with 10 schools designated per local government area. Additionally, ongoing renovations of six model schools across the state aim to enhance educational infrastructure.

Furthermore, Kanu disclosed plans for the renovation of 51 secondary schools, equating to three schools per local government area. These schools will undergo modernization efforts, including the incorporation of staff quarters, caretaker's houses, head teacher residences, and nurseries in primary schools.

"The schools will be equipped with features befitting modern educational institutions," Kanu affirmed, underscoring the government's commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people of Abia.
