Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) of Abia State University (ABSU), Prof. Godwin Emezue, has been kidnapped, according to a statement issued by the Nigeria Police, Abia Command. The confirmation of the abduction was made public on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Abia Police Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka.

In a shocking incident, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) of Abia State University (ABSU), Prof. Godwin Emezue, has been kidnapped, according to a statement issued by the Nigeria Police, Abia Command. The confirmation of the abduction was made public on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Abia Police Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka. The PPRO revealed that the police received information around 9:30 pm on Saturday, reporting that Prof. Emezue was kidnapped at approximately 7 pm.

According to the police statement, the kidnapping took place at a petrol station in Umuekwu Amachara, Umuahia South LGA, Abia State. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor was reportedly seized in the presence of his wife while purchasing fuel. The assailants not only abducted Prof. Emezue but also confiscated his wife's ATM card during the incident.

The unidentified perpetrators reportedly dragged the academician into a Lexus SUV and swiftly drove away from the scene. The Abia State Police Command is actively deploying resources, including intelligence and technical assistance, to swiftly resolve the situation and secure the safe release of the victim.

The PPRO, Chinaka, called for the collaboration of the public, urging anyone with information that could lead to the rescue of Prof. Emezue to come forward.
