Abia State Government Denounces False Recruitment Claims, Cautions Public Against Fraudulent Advertisements

The Abia State Government has stern warning to the public as it refutes claims of an ongoing recruitment process and cautioned citizens to be wary of misleading job advertisements falsely attributed to the state's Civil Service Commission.

Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser to Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, on Media and Publicity, conveyed this message through an official statement. Addressing the issue, Ekeoma utilized social media, particularly Facebook, to clarify the government's position.

"The attention of the Abia State Government has been drawn to a FAKE advertisement being circulated on different social media platforms, purporting to emanate from the Abia State Civil Service Commission, with a claim that there's an ongoing recruitment exercise into the Abia State Civil Service," Ekeoma stated.

He categorically declared the advertisement as spurious, emphasizing that it did not originate from the Abia State government and should be disregarded by the public.

Ekeoma elaborated on the current situation in Abia state, highlighting the ongoing verification exercise and comprehensive reforms aimed at cleansing the Civil Service. These reforms, he noted, are designed to rejuvenate the Civil Service, aligning it with the developmental policies and programs of the present government.

The Special Adviser emphasized that any legitimate recruitment into the Civil Service would receive official approval from the Abia Governor and be formally announced through authorized channels. Such announcements would be disseminated through the state-owned radio station, the BCA, as well as other radio stations and major newspapers in collaboration with the Civil Service Commission.

Ekeoma urged individuals with pertinent information that could lead to the identification and prosecution of the individuals behind the fraudulent advertisement to promptly contact the office of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Caleb Ajagba, or report to the nearest Police Station. The government remains committed to ensuring the transparency and integrity of its recruitment processes and discouraging fraudulent activities in this regard.
