Abia State Governor Approves Bursary for Law School Students; Unveils Education and Infrastructure Projects
Governor Otti is set to inaugurate the construction of the 30-kilometer Arochukwu-Ndiokereke-Ozuabam Road and the 11.5-kilometer Nunya-Eluama-Isuikwuato Road on March 26.
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has given the green light for the disbursement of bursary awards to Abia State natives enrolled in law schools nationwide. This decision was announced by the state's Commissioner for Information and Culture, Okey Kanu, following a recent Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Otti in Umuahia. Kanu emphasized that the bursary approval reflects the government's strong commitment to education.
During the meeting, it was also revealed that the state government has sanctioned the renovation of 170 primary schools, equating to 10 schools per local government area, along with six model schools currently undergoing refurbishment. Additionally, 51 secondary schools have been earmarked for renovation, averaging three schools per local government area.
Furthermore, Kanu lamented the delisting of some schools in Abia by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) due to cases of examination malpractices, particularly in private institutions. Despite expressing disappointment over the delisting, the government remains steadfast in its determination to uphold ethical standards in education.
In upcoming infrastructure developments, Governor Otti is set to inaugurate the construction of the 30-kilometer Arochukwu-Ndiokereke-Ozuabam Road and the 11.5-kilometer Nunya-Eluama-Isuikwuato Road on March 26. These initiatives signify the state's commitment to enhancing accessibility and infrastructure across Abia.
