ABU Hosts First-Ever Alumni Reunion, Sparks Discussion on Inspiring Future Generations

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, successfully organized its first alumni reunion event titled "Reuniversation: A Homecoming Conversation", aimed at fostering connections and inspiring the next generation of students in English and Literary Studies. 

The event, which took place with the support of the Department of English and Literary Studies and the Directorate of University Advancement, brought together esteemed alumni and faculty. Key speakers included Professors Anita Pandey and Anjali Pandey, both distinguished alumni who graduated with First Class Honours in 1989. They are currently professors at Morgan State University and Salisbury University, respectively. The duo discussed the theme, "Inspiring the Next Generation of Students in English and Literary Studies for Sustainable Development."

The reunion also featured contributions from faculty members including Prof. Saminu Isiyaku, Head of the Department of English and Literary Studies, and Mr. Haruna Auwalu Ilyasu, the department's Examination Officer. They worked in collaboration with Prof. Sani Aliyu Abba, Director of the Directorate of University Advancement, to ensure the event's success.

Discussions on potential future collaborations took place between ABU faculty and professors from Morgan State University, including Professors Hakeem Ibikunle Tijani and Owolabi. Prof. Hauwa Mohammed Sani, Deputy Director of IDR&T, represented the department in these conversations.

The event also saw participation from TETFund scholars, alumni, students, and other members of the academic community. This landmark reunion is expected to have a lasting impact, fostering academic and professional growth while strengthening alumni relations at ABU. 

Abdul'ahad Dalhat, a student representative, expressed hope that *"Reuniversation"* will continue in the future, with lasting outcomes for both students and alumni.
