ABUSRC Executive Members Pay Courtesy Visit to University Management

The Executive members of the Ahmadu Bello University Students Representative Council (ABUSRC), led by Comr. Nazeer Ibrahim Kallah, paid a courtesy visit to key university departments on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, just 48 hours after their inauguration. This visit underscores the new leadership's commitment to addressing student concerns and fostering collaboration with university management.

During the visit, the delegation raised critical healthcare issues regarding the Sickbay, including drug shortages, inadequate emergency response, limited ambulance services, and reports of harassment by some nurses. The university management assured the council of plans for significant improvements in sickbay services for the upcoming academic session. The council also highlighted concerns related to theft in halls of residence, timely allocation of accommodations, and student harassment on campus. Management pledged to work closely with students to address these security issues promptly. In a positive development, the management announced the revival of reserving rooms for final-year students and extending this privilege to 300-level students due to increased room availability.

ABUSRC President Comr. Nazeer Ibrahim Kallah proposed organizing Hygienic and Sanitization Training for interested students in halls of residence and establishing a Task Force Committee on Sickbay Issues. The ABUSRC expressed optimism about the outcomes of the visit, anticipating positive changes and improvements in student welfare as a result of the management's willingness to collaborate.
