The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi, recently paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty Igwe Dr. Gibson Nwosu (Eze-Uzu Awka II) at his palace in Awka. 

Prof. Arinze-Umobi was warmly received by the Traditional Prime Minister, Chief Benjamin Okoye (Otutu Awka), along with cabinet chiefs and representatives of the Awka women’s group. During her visit, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of acknowledging the royal throne, noting that Awka serves as the host community for the university.

She explained that seeking the royal blessings of the Eze-Uzu is a customary practice for newly appointed Vice-Chancellors and requested prayers for a successful tenure during her six-month term.

In response, Eze-Uzu Awka II commended Prof. Arinze-Umobi for honoring this tradition, expressing his admiration for her distinguished background as a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Law. He welcomed the visit and expressed eagerness for further engagement with the university’s governing council.

Chief Okoye assured the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Awka community's support and goodwill, highlighting the significance of fostering a strong relationship between the university and its host community. The cabinet chiefs and representatives of Awka women extended their congratulations to Prof. Arinze-Umobi and offered their best wishes for her leadership.

Accompanying the Vice-Chancellor were the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Peter Agbonome; Dean of Education, Prof. Vivian Nwogbo; ASUU Chairman, Prof. Kingsley Ubaoji; Dean of Social Sciences, Prof. Frank-Collins Okafor; and Chief Safety Officer, Mr. Ken Chukwurah, who is also a cabinet chief.
