The Adeniji Foundation of Statistical Science (AFSS), a non-governmental organization based in Ibadan, Nigeria, has successfully trained eight graduates in statistical science. The initiative, led by Dr. Abidemi Adeniji, seeks to combat youth unemployment and foster contributions to Nigeria's economic growth.

The graduating class, consisting of six males and two females, was equipped with skills to navigate the expanding data landscape. Dr. Adeniji emphasized that the training was essential for the graduates to make informed decisions and contribute meaningfully to society.

During the maiden convocation ceremony held at the AFSS office in Bodija, Ibadan, Dr. Adeniji underscored the foundation's commitment to providing technology, infrastructure, and education. This holistic approach aimed to empower the youth to contribute significantly to the nation's economy, discouraging the prevalent trend of seeking opportunities abroad.

Dr. Adeniji revealed that the graduates received 36 weeks of training, including formal classroom instruction, paid internships, and additional sessions on interview preparation and résumé building. Notably, the entire training program was offered free of charge, with the total expenditure reaching US$36,000.

Highlighting the humanitarian aspect of the foundation's mission, Dr. Adeniji referred to the exodus of Nigerian youth seeking opportunities in foreign lands as a crisis.
