The National Health Insurance Authority, NHIA has educated the 2023 Batch A Stream 1 Corps Members on their right to adequate health provisions during their service year.
This was made known in a lecture delivered by a representative of the Scheme, Mrs Teju Philips, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.
While explaining the importance of the health scheme, Philips commended the Federal Government for such a laudable initiative and for ensuring that Corps Members are major beneficiaries of the Scheme. Thus, she enjoined all Corps Members to make proper use of the Scheme by registering and going for their free medical consultations at any NHIA accredited center, when the need arises.
According to findings by Myschoolnews, Philips also laid emphasis on the need for Corps Members to contact their Health Maintenance Organization, HMO wherever they are posted to for their primary assignment, PPA. She explained that HMO coexists in different cities, detailing that Osun State has about 6 HMO centers.
She said, “it is the HMO that will link you with the NHIA accredited hospitals within their location.”
The Head of the NHIA Team, Dr Adeyemo, in his remarks, also added that Pregnant Corps Members can be recipients of the Scheme for their ante-natal care further stressing that babies can also be beneficiaries of the Scheme in their first three months after birth.
He therefore, encouraged Corps Members to enjoy all the benefits associated with their one year mandatory service to the nation.
