Covenant University students recently enhanced their data analytics skills through a two-day training organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and McAnderson Institute of Technology at the AfDB Centre of Excellence in Otta, Ogun State.

In a bid to tackle Nigeria’s economic challenges with data-driven solutions, Covenant University students recently participated in a transformative two-day data analytics training organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in collaboration with McAnderson Institute of Technology. The event, which took place at the AfDB Centre of Excellence in Otta, Ogun State, was designed to equip students with the vital skills needed to thrive in the ever-evolving Nigerian economy.

The training, led by Google-certified data analyst Boluwatife Oludipin, provided participants with hands-on experience in data analytics, focusing on practical applications that can address complex economic issues. Experts in the field, including Frederick Oscar and Hope Oladele, underscored the critical role of data literacy in fostering economic resilience and innovation.

Godwin Ebong, a global talent in data science, highlighted the importance of equipping students with data skills to drive Nigeria's transition into a tech-driven economy. "Data literacy has the potential to fuel economic innovation, and these students are at the forefront of that change," he said.

Ajiboye Ayobamidele, Chief Operating Officer of McAnderson Institute, also emphasized the program’s importance in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and the practical skills needed by industries. “Our goal is to ensure that students not only gain essential skills but also form meaningful connections with the industry,” he stated.
