Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has inaugurated a new annex of the ABU Staff School at the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI) in Shika. The inauguration ceremony took place on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at NAPRI Forage Hall in Shika.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, the establishment of the new annex is in response to the needs of the Shika community, who had made several requests for the school's expansion. Prof. Bala emphasized the importance of primary education, stating that it is the foundation upon which sound education is built.¹
The new annex is expected to ease the suffering faced by pupils in Shika, Giwa, and other neighboring villages, who previously had to travel to the main campus every day. The Director of NAPRI, Prof. Muhammad Rabiu Hassan, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for converting the former NAPRI private school into the annex of ABU Staff School.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by management staff of NAPRI, community leaders, and members of community-based organizations within Shika and other neighboring communities. The event was hailed as a historic milestone that signifies the collective commitment to advancing quality education in local communities.
