Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, hosted the 2024 National Agricultural Extension Review and Planning Meeting, where participants urged governments to empower extension workers to support farmers with climate-adaptive practices.
The communiqué called for increased funding, promotion of regenerative agriculture, and compliance with the FAO's recommended Extension Agent-to-Farm Family ratio of 1:800 by 2025.
Stakeholders also advocated for climate-focused research, climate-resilient crops, soil conservation, and sustainable mechanization to boost productivity and food security.
