Ahmadu Bello University NAPRI Trains NiMet Personnel on Climate-Smart Livestock Systems

The National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has commenced a one-week training program for 16 personnel of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet). The training focuses on climate-smart livestock productivity and resilience systems.
While declaring the session open, NAPRI's Executive Director, Prof. Muhammad Rabiu Hassan, described the initiative as a collaborative effort between NAPRI and NiMet. He highlighted the importance of NiMet's weather predictions in aiding NAPRI's activities, including animal breeding, pasture management, and storage practices.
Malam Haruna Zakari, General Manager of Agromet and Technical Assistant to NiMet's Director-General, commended NAPRI for its openness to partnership. He urged the institute to formalize the collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding and advised participants to maximize the learning opportunities provided by the training.
The program, facilitated by NAPRI specialists, underscores the commitment of both institutions to improving livestock productivity and sustainability through innovative approaches.
