The Opekete Foundation has announced that applications are now open for the 2024 Florence MakanjuOla (FBM) Scholarship. This scholarship aims to provide financial support to deserving Nigerian students pursuing secondary and tertiary education in the fields of education and nursing.

The FBM Scholarship was established in honor of the late Mrs. Florence Bamidele MakanjuOla, a dedicated educator and nurse passionate about female empowerment and improving education quality in Nigeria. The scholarship program reflects her commitment to supporting future generations of teachers and healthcare professionals.

Scholarship benefits include:

  • Secondary School Students: Up to N350,000 per year.
  • University Students: Up to N650,000 per year.

The scholarship is open to female Nigerian students currently pursuing or interested in pursuing studies in Teaching (STEM) or Nursing at the university level.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Applicants must be female Nigerian citizens.
  • They must have gained admission to or be currently enrolled in a public university or senior secondary school in Nigeria.
  • They must intend to study Teaching (STEM) or Nursing at the university level.

Academic requirements:

  • Secondary School Applicants: A minimum of five distinctions (A or B) in English, Mathematics, and any other three major subjects in the Junior WAEC examination.
  • University Applicants: A minimum of five distinctions (A1 - B3) in English, Mathematics, and any other three major subjects in the WAEC/NECO examinations at one sitting. They must also meet the required JAMB cut-off score for their chosen course and university.

Interested candidates can apply by reviewing the eligibility requirements, completing the application form, and submitting all required documents before the deadline of September 15, 2024. Awardees will be announced on or around October 30, 2024.
