Artificial Insemination Centre Commissioned at Adamawa State University, Mubi

The Executive Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Dr. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Prof. Kaletapwa George Farauta, alongside the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Hon. Idi Mukhtar Maiha, on Friday, August 28, 2026, commissioned an Artificial Insemination Centre built by the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, L-PRES, at the Abubakar Barde Campus of Adamawa State University, Mubi.

The commissioning marks another significant milestone in the development of Adamawa State University, Mubi, particularly in the areas of agricultural research, livestock development, innovation, and technology.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of Adamawa State University, Mubi, Professor Augustine Clement, welcomed the distinguished dignitaries and other guests to the University. He expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for his developmental strides and continued support towards transforming research and education in the state. 

He also commended the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Hon. Idi Mukhtar Maiha, for his unwavering support for the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, L-PRES.

The Vice-Chancellor particularly appreciated Governor Fintiri for always responding positively whenever the University calls for his support and for his commitment to the development of the institution.

Professor Clement emphasized the University's commitment to promoting research and innovation capable of addressing practical challenges in agriculture and livestock production. He noted that the establishment of the Artificial Insemination Centre would further strengthen the University's capacity to contribute meaningfully to improve livestock production through modern scientific and technological methods.

In his remarks, the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Hon. Idi Mukhtar Maiha, commended Adamawa State University, Mubi, for establishing the centre and described the initiative as an important step towards advancing modern livestock breeding technologies in Nigeria.

The Minister emphasized that the adoption of modern breeding technologies, including artificial insemination, would contribute significantly to improving animal production and productivity, strengthening livestock farmers' resilience, and enhancing food security in the country.

He encouraged the University to continue investing in research and innovation that would have a positive impact on livestock farmers and society at large.

Hon. Maiha further assured the University of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development's full support in realizing its ambition of contributing to the transformation of the livestock sector. He also disclosed that Adamawa State University, Mubi, would be given special consideration as a centre for vaccine distribution.

The commissioning of the Artificial Insemination Centre therefore represents a major step forward in strengthening the University's role in agricultural research, livestock development, technology transfer, and human capacity building, while deepening collaboration between the state government, the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, L-PRES, and the academic community.
