ASUP Applauds Proposal for Polytechnic Commission

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has expressed its support for the proposed establishment of a dedicated commission to oversee the polytechnic sector in Nigeria. In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Itoro Ekanem, ASUP highlighted the absence of a standard commission regulating polytechnics as a longstanding challenge endangering the sector.

ASUP acknowledged the efforts of members of the House of Representatives in championing the establishment of this commission. The union believes that such a commission would play a crucial role in addressing issues within the polytechnic system, including the quest for polytechnics to also become degree-awarding institutions.
