JAMB Suspends 10,378 Direct Entry Students' Admission Over Failed Verification
In February 2023, JAMB issued an advisory to guide candidates seeking admission through Direct Entry for the 2023/2024 academic session, aiming to address the use of unacceptable or forged A-level certificates/qualifications.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended the admission of 10,378 candidates who wrote the Direct Entry examination in 2023 due to the failure of their A-level issuing institutions to submit verification reports to JAMB. The candidates' admission has been put on hold as their A-level certificates remain unverified.
In February 2023, JAMB issued an advisory to guide candidates seeking admission through Direct Entry for the 2023/2024 academic session, aiming to address the use of unacceptable or forged A-level certificates/qualifications.
JAMB recently advised affected candidates to contact their former institutions promptly for certificate verification, emphasizing that unverified certificates would not be accepted. While some tertiary institutions responded positively to JAMB's request for verification, over 240 institutions, mainly polytechnics and colleges of education, failed to submit verification reports.

Consequently, JAMB has suspended the admission of candidates holding certificates from institutions that did not respond to the verification request. The Nigeria Post-secondary Education Data System (NIPEDS) conducted verification exercises, urging institutions to verify their students' A-level certificates.
Candidates with unverified certificates will not be considered for admission until the verification process is completed.
