The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the ongoing crisis at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, concerning the appointment of the Vice Chancellor and Registrar.

In a statement issued after its meeting in Abia State, signed by ASUU President Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, the union expressed deep dissatisfaction with the alleged violations of university laws and procedures in the appointment of Dr. Bernard Odoh as Vice Chancellor and Mrs. Rosemary Nwokike as Registrar by the university's governing council.

ASUU-NEC highlighted serious concerns over the exclusion of internal council members from the appointment process and the disregard for the Senate's role in nominating representatives to the selection committees, as mandated by the university's regulations.

The union urged President Tinubu to take decisive action to restore order, law, and due process at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, ensuring that the institution adheres to its established legal frameworks and governance structures.
