Struggling to find financial assistance, Ajayi decided to approach Professor Alese, despite never having met him before.

Initially met with skepticism, Ajayi’s persistence and emotional appeal moved the professor, who humorously expressed disbelief at being expected to cover students' tuition. However, he eventually led Ajayi to the office of the then Registrar, Professor Modupe Ajayi, where they jointly provided the funds to pay his fees.
