ASUU Not Surprised by Alleged Corruption in Student Loan Scheme

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has expressed no surprise over the alleged corruption surrounding the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). According to the union's National President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, the development was anticipated due to past experiences with similar schemes.

Osodeke emphasized that ASUU had opposed the student loan scheme from its inception, citing concerns over corruption and the burden it would place on students. He suggested that grants or scholarships would be more beneficial for students in need, rather than loans that may not be economically viable for many graduates.
