ATBU Student Arrested for Illegal Firearm Possession

The suspect was apprehended at his residence in Gubi village, Bauchi. Preliminary investigations revealed that he possessed two different types of firearms, including a locally-made gun, a locally-made piston, and 9mm live ammunition. ATBU Student Arrested for Illegal Firearm Possession

Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) student, Mike James Habila, a 400-level student, has been arrested for alleged illegal firearm possession. The arrest was made by detectives from C’ Divisional Police Headquarters in Bauchi based on credible intelligence from a vigilante group.

A search warrant was executed as part of the ongoing investigation to uncover related cases of firearms in Bauchi state. The police are actively working to ascertain the origin and ownership of the firearms.

In a separate incident related to criminal activities around ATBU, a case of criminal breach of trust, forgery, criminal misappropriation, and obtaining money under false pretense was reported. The accused, Timothy Oseni, allegedly collected a sum of N663,000 from multiple victims for school fees registration, using fraudulent means.

A team of detectives from the Area Command, Metro, arrested Oseni. Preliminary investigations revealed that he had forged registration slips and used them to defraud unsuspecting students. The police are continuing their investigations, and the suspect will face charges accordingly.
